Stone Road Stud

The epitome of horsepower

Stone Road Stud aims to be ER Vintage!'s premiere draft horse breeder. We strive for excellence in Conformation, Temperament, Intelligence and of course Strength. The ranch is named for the cobblestone roads of old Europe where most of our breeds originate.

Meet the breeds of Stone Road Stud!

Noriker

The breed that started SRS! These magnificent animals hail from the Austrian Alps. Historically they were used for the transportation of good through the rough mountain terrain. The Norikers at Stone Road stud are named for their mountain trekking heritage. We aim to breed the recognized colors: Chestnut, Bay, Black, Roans, Flaxens, Silvers, Tobianos, Overos and Leopard complex horses. Our Norikers are bred for the Draft discipline.

Clydesdale
A Scottish breed famous for its use in pulling wagons for beverage companies. The Clydesdale's manner has been described as "gaiety of carriage and outlook" by Clydesdale Horse Society. The Clydesdales at Stone Road Stud are named for the beverage companies they mascot for. The horses can come in a variety of colors including roan, black, grey and chestnut, but at SRS we strive to breed the most sought after Bay Sabino. Our Cyldes are bred for the Draft discipline

Shire
An English breed that often holds the honor of the world's biggest horse. The Shires at Stone Road Stud are a special bunch, our Shires are bred in the fashion of Drum horses. Drum horses are eye catching beasts used by the British Calvary in parades and events. The horses are required to carry a rider and two large pure silver drums. The weight of rider and gear can be up to 450lbs! The Shire's enormous size and even temperament lend them very well to this special job. Our Shires are named to reflect the Drum horse's duty. Historically the Drum horse breed was simply described as a "coloured shire". Unfortunately the Shire Horse Society decided not to allow colored horses in the registry and the true colored shires all but disappeared. Modern drum horses are often Shires outcrossed to Gypsy Vanners and bred back for that draft influence. Here at SRS we breed our Shires with lots of pizazz and strive for piebald and skewbald. Our Shires are bred for the Draft discipline
